Emerging evidence reveals a critical link between low omega-3 long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acid (omega-3 FA) intake and a range of health issues, yet many fall short of recommended levels. Accurate assessment of omega-3 FA status is essential, as traditional dietary surveys often fail to capture individual variations in absorption. This review highlights the need for precise analytical testing of biological samples, such as blood and breast milk, to better evaluate omega-3 FA status and its health impacts.
